Attorney Yael Gil

Attorney Yael Gil holds an LL.B. in Law from Tel Aviv University. In addition to her legal studies, she graduated with honors with a B.A. in Psychology and General Humanities, with a focus on the Institute for the History and Philosophy of Science at Tel Aviv University.

Attorney Gil integrates her extensive knowledge in both law and psychology. Accordingly, the firm provides, as part of its legal representation, unique guidance regarding interactions with welfare authorities and psychological experts. Due to her broad expertise in both fields, Attorney Gil possesses exceptional abilities in cross-examining witnesses from social work departments (welfare officers), psychology/psychiatry professionals, as well as other experts such as actuaries, economists, and private investigators.

The firm represents clients in all judicial instances. It has established groundbreaking legal precedents cited extensively in case law, including rulings concerning property agreements contrary to prenuptial agreements, contract interpretation, exclusion of external marital property, expedited property division, division of assets under Section 8 of the Spouses Property Relations Law, recognition of social rights in complex cases, successful appeals on child support, the first joint custody ruling in Israel issued contrary to welfare recommendations and the “tender years doctrine,” rulings granting custody to fathers even against psychological opinions, rulings establishing shared parental responsibility even for infants contrary to welfare and psychological recommendations, child support reductions, low child support rulings as well as high support rulings depending on circumstances (including for a child aged 4.5 prior to the Supreme Court precedent in CA 919/15), zero child support rulings, dismissal of child support and inheritance claims at preliminary stages, rulings preventing relocation, rulings addressing parental alienation and its reversal, enforcement of shared parenting agreements, expanded parenting time in complex long-distance cases, rulings regarding custody of pets, will contests and appeals, and more.

Some of the rulings were published in legal databases (Nevo, Takdin, etc.), while others remain confidential due to privacy considerations or party objections.

Attorney Yael Gil has been ranked for many years as one of Israel’s leading attorneys. The firm has received awards for excellence and business leadership since 2016.

Attorney Gil has participated in the Knesset and the Israel Bar Association’s Family Law Committee and has led a public campaign for social change and gender equality since 2003. She also works to support victims of domestic violence.

Attorney Gil has organized and lectured at numerous conferences featuring leading experts, judges, and senior academics in property law, child support, custody, shared parenting, and violence against children.

Over the years, Attorney Gil has published dozens of articles ahead of their time in the field of family law across major media outlets including Ynet, Maariv, Globes, TheMarker, Calcalist, and legal platforms. Topics include property division, specific co-ownership of apartments, asset balancing under Section 8, divorce law and game theory, inequality in child support, shared parenting, pension division, prenuptial agreements, and more. She also regularly publishes case commentary and agreements handled by the firm. Most articles and references are available on Duns 100 and on the firm’s website:

Attorney Gil has also managed legal forums over the years, including the attorney community on TheMarker Café.

She also has extensive knowledge in real estate and civil-commercial law, providing a broad perspective on the firm’s financial and property-related practice areas.

Attorney Or Finkelstein

Attorney Or Finkelstein holds an LL.B. from Tel Aviv University (2011).

She has worked at Yael Gil Law Office since her pre-internship stage and later as an intern. For nearly 14 years, she has practiced family and divorce law at the firm.

Attorney Finkelstein appears in all courts and represents clients professionally and strategically, with a strong commitment to achieving the best possible outcome. She conducts complex cross-examinations, manages intricate litigation, and works tirelessly to conclude cases through fair settlements or favorable judgments.

Her strong legal and analytical abilities, along with her creative legal thinking, contribute significantly to the firm. She also has in-depth knowledge of Jewish law, particularly in matters of wills and inheritance.

She publishes legal articles and media content and is authorized by the Ministry of Justice (Public Guardian and Official Receiver) to draft enduring powers of attorney.

Attorney Finkelstein graduated with highest honors from a mathematics-physics-French track at the Real Gymnasium in Rishon LeZion and previously served as a psychotechnical examiner in the Israel Defense Forces.

Preference for Fair Agreements

Attorney Yael Gil and Attorney Or Finkelstein believe that it is preferable for parties to reach fair agreements and that it is in their best interest to end their marriage amicably rather than through prolonged litigation.

However, it is understood that agreements should not be reached at any cost, as this may come at a significant price. If a client does not reach an agreement before or during the case, the firm fights strategically, creatively, and resolutely until a just court ruling is obtained in all instances.

The firm operates through strategic, legal, and psychological approaches designed to maximize clients’ rights and achieve optimal outcomes, enabling clients to begin a new chapter in their lives with peace of mind and a sense of security and success for the future.
