Historical Milestones
Menorah was established before the establishment of Israel as the "Lloyds Heritage" in what was then Palestine. The company began its operations in 1935 and four years later started focusing on the insurance sector. In the 1960s Menorah Mivatchim was purchased by the Fischel Frisch family and has since been held by family members. In the early 1980s, Menora went public on the stock exchange and became a public company. Today, the group's shares are traded on the TA-90 and TA-125 indices.
Partnerships and Subsidiaries
Menorah Mivatchim Holdings maintains productive business relationships with thousands of insurance agents and licensed pension planners, who provide a variety of services to its clients. The group offers services in all the major insurance sectors in Israel through its subsidiaries: Menora Mivtachim Insurance Ltd. and Shomera Insurance Company Ltd. In addition to general insurance fields, the group is also active in life and health insurance, ranking among the top five insurance groups in Israel and leading in car insurance.
Moreover, the group owns the insurance agencies Orot - Life Insurance Agency (2005) Ltd, Sinai Insurance Agency Ltd., and the Alifim Agency. Alongside its vast insurance activity, the group is also involved in real estate and solar investments in Israel and abroad, and it owns an underwriting and securities distribution company.
Significant Business Initiatives
Over the past two decades, the group has undertaken several significant acquisition and development initiatives, the most notable include the purchase of shares in Menora Mivtachim Pension and Provident Funds Ltd. in 2004, the acquisition of shares in Shomera Insurance Company Ltd. in 2007, the acquisition of stakes in companies Ampa Capital Ltd. and ERN Ltd. in 2016-2017, bringing in Leumi Partners as a partner in the group’s energy activities in 2021, and the acquisition of 50% of the "Alifim" insurance agency in 2022.
