Ortra was established in 1982 by the late Zvi Gelfand, who was one of the founders of the conference industry in Israel. Since then, Ortra has been one of the leading companies in Israel in organizing and producing local and international conventions, exhibitions, and events. Ortra also organizes incentive trips for inbound tourism from all over the world, as well as business travel services for outbound tourism.

For 40 years, Ortra has been organizing and producing about 100 conventions, exhibitions, and events every year, hosting groups from abroad and seminars ranging from dozens to thousands of participants in each event. The company is well-known around the world and is a member of the leading professional organizations in the field of international conferences, including the prestigious ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association), the prestigious partnership of leading international conference organizing companies - INCON, and the important international organization IAPCO (International Association of Professional Congress Organisers), which grants quality accreditation to its member companies.
