Adv. Harel served for many years on the Insurance Committee of the Israel Bar Association. The Book: “The Law of Evidence in Insurance and Road Accident Claims”

In 2018, Adv. Harel published his book “The Law of Evidence in Insurance and Road Accident Claims” through the long-established and respected publishing house Perlstein Ginosar. The book, which has become a leading work in its field, was acquired by the Courts Administration for court libraries and by university and college libraries.

The book, the first of its kind, provides a comprehensive discussion of the laws of evidence applicable to claims under the Insurance Contract Law and the Road Accident Victims Compensation Law (“Paltad”). For the first time, it presents an in-depth and focused examination of the various evidentiary issues that arise during the management of insurance and road accident claims in the courts.

The book is divided into two sections: the first addresses insurance claims, and the second addresses claims under the Road Accident Victims Compensation Law. Given the breadth of the issues discussed, the book serves as a practical guide for attorneys handling insurance and road accident claims. Among the key topics covered are proof of the insured event, existence of insurance coverage, evidentiary damage, burdens of proof, exclusions, admissibility, and evidentiary weight of insurance-level evidence, intentional causation of the insured event, medical experts, presumptions, and statistical evidence.
